BEWARE!! The Star Lions club has been operating outside the guidelines of proper new member recruitment, and now are officially placed on probation. Their so called fundraising events are really a cover for recruiting new members. They offer great food, beverages and superb musical entertainment in return for a signed new Lion member agreement. This strong arm attempt at membership growth should not be a direct reflection of the Lions of District 39W. As you can see by the picture a couple of reliable spies from other clubs were the ones that brought this offense to our attention. Please beware of the Star Lions as they are on a mission to win the district membership contest by any means possible.
Every now and then, but not nearly often enough, someone brings a great Lions club event or project to my attention. Today I want to pass along a project that's been going on for 48 years. Since 1965 the Twin Falls Lions Club has been parking cars at the Twin Falls County Fair. This involves a lot more than just directing traffic. It begins with 12 acres of pasture that the Lions section off into rows for parking and lanes for driving. They pound steel posts into the ground for markers, direct cars where to park, and attend the lot throughout the 6 day fair. But it's not over until the lot is cleaned up and restored to its original condition, 10 days after they drove in the first stake. It somehow doesn't look like all work and no play! Congratulations to PDG Don Rahe who has been the Fair Parking Chairperson for the last 10 years for another successful project!
Was it a fundraiser? Absolutely! We raised another $100 for Camp Hodia which will help send two Star teens to camp this summer, and we raised awareness for diabetes.
ReplyDeleteMembership contest? I wouldn't know anything about that... But the spies were right about one thing-good food, good drinks, good music, good friends! If I weren't a member already, I'd join!
